Action Renewables & University Of Ulster Start Monitoring In Holywood

Today Action Renewable & University Of Ulster started their 12 month monitoring programme of Northern Ireland's first carbon zero home built by Sky Developments at The Green House on The Esplanade in Holywood.

The team led by Action Renewable's Stephen Butler in conjunction with students from the Centre of Sustainable Technologies at The University of Ulster are set to monitor the efficiency of the prototype home on Holywood's sea front until March of next year. The monitoring team expressed their excitement at the involvement in a Northern Ireland first.

During the process every element of the properties innovative technologies will be assessed to provide vital data for Action Renewables, University of Ulster and Sky Developments.

When asked about the monitoring of the property Alan Johnston of Sky commented, 'we are delighted to have the interest of local eduational bodies such as the university involved, this process will give us solid end data that will allow us to improve our building systems for future projects. The involvement of Action Renewables is equally welcomed by Skyand hopefully this process will bear fruit for us all.'

The monitoring process will be maintained throughout the year by Stephen Butler, Action Renewables, Matteo Baldoni, David Redpath and Shane Smyth from the University of Ulster.
