Sky Developments Commended at Belfast Telegraph Business Awards

Sky Developments were commended last night at the 2009 Belfast Telegraph Business Awards sponsored by BMI. The event at the Ramada Hotel was attended by Northern Ireland's top business people and the gueat of honour was ex-dragon from the BBC 2 show Dragon's Den and on of Britian's highest profile female entrepreneurs Rachel Elnaugh.

Sky just missed out on the award for Environmental Achievement to worthy winner McGlaughlin & Harvey but Sky's directors were not down hearted. Alan Johnston of Sky commented, 'it is very encouraging for everyone at Sky that we were shortlisted for such a prestigious award and ended up running against one of the provinces leading building and civil engineering contractors, we all wish McGloughlin & Harvey the very best for the future and congratulate them on their win.'

In their commendation of Sky Developments the Belfast Telegraph Awards panel said, 'The judges were impressed by the companies attention to detail and it's collaborative approach in it's projects. The Greenhouse project represents a collaborative and adaptive process, with the company forging strong relationships with organisations including Solarcentury, Blue Sky Renewables and Ardell National Energy Ratings.'

The panel went on to comment, 'The Greenhouse has also been a model for future development. Lessons learned from the Greenhouse will be applied to all future Sky builds including an affordable housingscheme in Newtownards projected to achieve and EPCB rating and Code Level 4 - making it the most energy efficient development of it's kind in Northern Ireland. Furthermore, Sky Developments' directors, Stephen McCready & Alan Johnston are maintaining a programme of research into emerging technologies - aiming to keep Sky at the forefront of energy-efficiency and environmentally responsible construction in Northern Ireland.
